Bid to win a classroom visit and two signed copies of "Sammy the Sparrow" by local author Valerie Nichols. Ms Nichols will read her book and talk with the classroom afterwards.

Book Description:

Sammy is a sparrow who spends his days happily playing with his friends in the Southwest. One of their favorite games is racing from a cactus to a special painted rock. One day, Sammy is shocked when he is beaten by an unfamiliar creature. Come race along with Sammy as he discovers something new in his world!

Author Bio:

Valerie A. Nichols has been a freelance writer and teacher in both Wisconsin and Arizona. She is currently teaching 7th grade, and will attend the 2005 AZ Writers Festival in Phoenix.
