This auction is for a hand-painted Russian Lacquer Box. Lacquer boxes are an old Russian craft. Each one is hand-made out of paper mache, then hand-painted. Each box can take several months to make. This box features a hand-painted scene of a couple in the evening, as well as an ornate pattern on the sides. The outside is in excellent shape, but the paint on the inside is bubbling in spots. The box measures approximately 5" X 5" X 1.5". Box comes in its original packaging and dates from the early 1980s.
