Description

Nicholas Kahn and Richard Selesnick were both born in 1964--Richard in London and Nicholas in New York City--and have been best friends since their days as Photography majors at Washington University in St.Louis. They have been collaborating for over twenty years in many different art media including photography, video, handmade books, writings, wood and clay sculpture, and installation. Almost always their work is highly narrative and documents a warping in the time: space continuum, fiction, and history intermingle in most unsettling ways. Their work as Kahn/Selesnick is in many public and private collections including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Boston Public Library, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, the Addison Gallery of American Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Fogg Museum of Art, and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington. They show regularly at Paul Kopeikin Gallery in Los Angeles, Yancey Richardson Gallery in New York, Irvine Contemporary in Washington, DC, and Pepper Gallery in Boston.
