Description
Michael J. Fox, best known for his portrayals of Alex P. Keaton on Family Ties, Marty McFly in Back to the Future, and Mike Flaherty on Spin City, has had a career that has spanned over twenty years and includes work in the fields of acting, directing, producing and writing. He also lent his talents to voicing the title role of Stuart Little for the film adaptation of E.B.White's beloved children's book. Diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991, he founded The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, which is dedicated to ensuring the development of a cure for Parkinson's disease within this lifetime through an aggressively funded research agenda. Since November 2000, he has helped raise more than $55 million for drug development, cell replacement therapy, and genetic discoveries. His words to those who share his personal battle provide inspiration to all of us in the REACH family: "We are looking for ways around the roadblocks and we're willing to take risks. So hang in there--we're sure to make it across the finish line."
Special Instructions
This is the quote that is written on Michael's plate.
"This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by
yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on
the scrap heap, the being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish
little clod of aliments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote
itself to making you happy." George Bernard Shaw
