Description
Eve Ensler is an author, activist, and creator of the award winning play The Vagina Monologues. The Vagina Monologues is based on Ensler's interviews with over 200 women and has been translated into thirty five languages; it plays to sold out audiences across the globe. Her experience performing The Vagina Monologues inspired Ensler to create an organization called VDAY, a global movement that aims to end violence against women and girls. In the seven years since its creation, VDAY has raised over $25 million dollars. In addition to The Vagina Monologues, Ensler has written several other plays including Necessary Targets, Conviction, Lemonade, The Depot, Floating Rhoda and the Glue Man, and Extraordinary Measures. Currently she is performing her newest work, The Good Body. Ensler is the recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship award in Playwriting, the Berrilla-Kerr Award for Playwriting, the Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Solo Performance, the Jury Award for Theater at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, and the 2002 Amnesty International Spotlight Award for Leadership.
