Description

Elspeth Halvorsen received a BA degree and took graduate studies in Art Education, Art Therapy, and Teacher Certification at Purdue University in Indiana. She also studied at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiére in Paris, the Art Students' League and the New School for Social Research in New York City. She is represented by the Berta Walker Gallery in Provincetown, MA. Halvorsen was instrumental in organizing the much-heralded cooperative Rising Tide Gallery in Provincetown. She is not only an especially talented sculptor but is the wife and mother to the unique Vevers family of artists: her husband, painter Tony Vevers, and daughters, artist Tabitha Vevers and filmmaker Stephanie Vevers. Tony and Tabitha are also plate artists this year. Recently celebrating her seventy fifth birthday, Halvorsen has worked and lived in Provincetown for fifty years.
