Description

Randa Newland is an artist who looks to her roots in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas and Missouri for inspiration. Her current works are a means for her to create "domesticated landscapes of antique paper, beading and actual leaves" that reference ancient mosaics in Rome and the patterns from "cherished family quilts." Newland teaches at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she has been a professor for over twenty years. Her work is included in the collections of the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, Springfield Art Museum, and many university and college collections.
