Rachel Perry Welty holds a BA in English from Connecticut College and a Diploma and Fifth Year Certificate from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, winning Traveling Scholarships in 2001, and again as an alumna in 2004. She is the recent recipient of a Massachusetts Cultural Council grant in Drawing and a St. Botolph Club Foundation grant. Welty's cross-disciplinary work has been exhibited in group exhibitions at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Addison Gallery of American Art, Andover, MA; Florence Lynch Gallery and Yancey Richardson Gallery, New York; and Prenelle Gallery, London. Welty had a one-person exhibition at Barbara Krakow Gallery (Boston) in September 2004.
