Description

"Newborn" -- Original Print by Helen Bishop , double mat, shadowbox frame, gold liner, off white mat. Dimensions: Print = 14"x14". Frame = 25"w x 21"h

Helen Bishop has been inspired by no particular school and has no special theories.

She has a symbolist mentality and transcendental concept of reality which sees all objects as symbols of another invisible and true realm of existence. Symbolical image of the material being activated by a spiritual element Everything is connected to everything.

Since it is the philosophy and not the principles of art she seeks to convey -- we admire not the technical gymnastics of the artist -- but the subtle manner in which the soul of the sitter has been transformed to the canvas. A style which prefers the spirit to the letter.

She is an artist who appeals directly to the emotions through visual means and has a passionate preoccupation with portraiture.

Many of her paintings -- lithographs -- and drawings are in private collections here and abroad and others can be viewed at her Boston studio by appointment.

This is a Live Event Item.
