Description
Round of Golf for 4 Persons on Martha's Vineyard
Including carts and Snack Bar privileges to be used during the 2006 season.
As one of the most environmentally sensitive golf courses ever built in the United Sates, the Vineyard Golf Club is a unique and exciting venture. Nestled amongst 235 acres, it is Martha's Vineyard newest private golf course. Opening day was May 22nd, 2002.
The course, designed by Donald Steel, is a true representation of his style. It is a traditional links style course, with sodded, revetted walled bunkers, use of the natural undulations in the ground, and trees framing the holes, much like a picture frame. Donald Steel believes that a golf course should not be penal, rather, it should challenge the golfer, and give options. When he talks about the Vineyard Golf Club, he hopes it will demonstrate that a course does not have to be elaborate to enchant and challenge. Rather, it is at its best when one can play almost any club for a particular shot. Choice is what confuses a golfer and adds interest.
The mesmerizing fescue or field hay, is one of the course's unique features. It's ever changing color with the seasons creates a breathtaking landscape.
Sunset Sailing Cruise on the catamaran, the Arabella.
Our Sunset Trip leaves from Menemsha with time to sail across the Sound to swing thru Tarpaulin Cove or Quick's Hole, or possibly around Gay Head to see the sun set into Block Island Sound.
