Sekou Sundiata's deeply moving "blessing the boats" had the audience on its feet in 2005. This season, Stanford University and Lively Arts commission present the world premiere of The 51st (Dream) State, the newest work from the groundbreaking poet and performance artist. Concluding Lively Arts' Imagine America series, Sundiata and a 10-member ensemble use music, poems, monologues, and multimedia images to explore how America defines itself amidst unprecedented global influence and power.
