Description
This very unique item is a 3x5 photographic portrait of Columbia astronaut Willie McCool in an 11x14 mat on foam core, not framed. The portrait is signed on the mat by the photographer, Lani McCool, the astronaut's wife and widow.
This portrait was taken during the first fitting of McCool's astronaut space suit, in 1998, and subsequently printed by the photographer herself.
Special Instructions
Lani McCool photographed her husband Willie McCool throughout his career as a Navy pilot and an astronaut. This is the first time Mrs. McCool, an award-winning photographer, has offered an astronaut photo of Cmdr. McCool. In the photo art world, there is significant value when the photographer prints from their own negatives.
