A U.S. Naval Academy graduate, Pierre Thuot logged over 650 hours in space on three shuttle flights: STS-36 in 1990 aboard Atlantis; STS-49 in 1992, the maiden voyage of Endeavour; and STS-62 in 1994 aboard Columbia. During his three space walks, Thuot logged more than 17 hours of space walk time. During his Navy career as a pilot, he logged over 3,500 flight hours in more than 40 different aircraft, and had over 270 carrier landings.
