Description: The Youth Foundation Academic Soccer Program serves middle school students at Gypsum Creek, Berry Creek and Minturn Middle Schools. This program provides literacy based academic guidance, character education, and participation in an organized soccer league for middle school students identified as "at risk" during out-of-school time. The Academic Soccer Program encourages and fosters positive character values including respect and responsibility, which forms the foundation and moral fabric of a community. Currently 73% of the students participating in the Academic Soccer Program are Latino. 54% of the participants come from a home where English is not their primary language. Immigrant children are the fastest growing sector of the United States population. Eagle County High School Graduation rate for Hispanics is 65% compared to 83% for non-Hispanics.
