From rolling hillside vineyards above the coastal Mediterranean city of Montpelier, Puech Haut produces this deep ruby wine from hand-harvested grapes which are thoroughly destemmed prior to fermentation in a state-of-the-art winery. A blend of 60% Syrah and 25%Grenache Noir and 15%old vine Carignan, it was aged in oak barrels for 12 months. This full-bodied wine reveals complex, toasty aromas and flavors of fresh laurel, berries, minerals, spices and provencal herbs. Wileits ripe fruit and soft tannins make it emminently enjoyable now, it should continue to drink quite nicely over the next five years.
