Artist Statement:
My journey is about transformation of the spirit and creating an atmosphere for change.
I focus on color because color is energy and this inherent power can change your perceptions, thoughts and emotions. Color has both personal and universal meaning.
Shapes are also symbols for change. Circles, squares, spirals, triangles and crosses all have individual and cultural meaning.
Texture adds another dimension to my work and is produced by incorporating textured gels, paper, fabric and sand. It creates depth, character and structure as each layer builds one upon the other. Layering has many symbolic meanings from psychology to history.
Painting, for me, is an intuitive process which allows the energy of my inner spirit to flow onto the canvas for all to see and to be transformed, if only for a moment.
