2001 Flora Springs Winery, Trilogy, St. Helena: The 2001 growing season was long and warm - the perfect combination for a stellar vintage. 2001 was more of a "Cabernet Sauvignon" vintage than a "Merlot" vintage, which is reflected in this year's blend. There are huge forward fruit flavors of black cherry and cassis from the Cabernet Sauvignon, with a touch of raspberry from the Merlot, tobacco and cedar from the Cabernet Franc and Malbec adds a ruby richness to pull it all together. With firm tannins, this wine lingers on the palate and finishes beautifully.
