Luis Gomez serves as Manager of Supplier Diversity and Business Strategies at American Airlines. In his position, Gomez works to facilitate relationships with qualified minority, women-owned and small businesses to give them the opportunity to participate as potential suppliers of products and services for the airline.
Gomez began his career in the automotive aftermarket, as an account manager with a parts distribution company in Memphis, Tennessee. His automotive industry experience led to his career at American Airlines, where he began in 1996 as a ground support equipment parts specialist. Prior to Gomez's most recent assignment, he had been manager of Field Services Purchasing, responsible for an annual budget of more than $300 million in contracts for service.
Gomez serves on the Board of Directors of the Arlington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Advisory Council for the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Southwest. He is also a diversity professional member in the Airline Transportation Group and The Working Group. In addition, he is active in the Dallas/Fort Worth Minority Business Council and a member of the Supplier Diversity Professionals, Certification, and Council Connections committees.
Luis speaks fluent Spanish and is an avid golfer.
