This oil on canvas painting by Seattle artist Nancy Peacock is entitled "Big Sur" and measures 36" x 24". It was created on site at Big Sur by laying down evening's colors in a variety of techniques to evoke the mystery, solitude, magic, and freedom of Big Sur, California. Peacock is well known for her paintings of jazz artists, where her motivation is to capture the spiritual essence of the musicians and the music. She is often invited by jazz festivals to paint live onstage with the musicians. The same flair she possesses for capturing the spontaneity of jazz on canvas allows her to beautifully portray a horse in motion.
