Description
James Concannon, born in County Galway, Ireland, brought his bride to San Francisco in 1875. Here he pioneered the rubber stamp business for the whole Pacific Coast, including Mexico. His success enabled him to buy a farm in the Livermore Valley and plant grapevines. Founded in 1883, Concannon is one of the two oldest continuously-family-operated wineries in the United States (both are in the Livermore Valley). Among the vines James Concannon planted was the varietal that would be the winery's key to success, Petite Sirah. His grandson Jim was the first in the U.S. to produce it as a varietal wine. Like velvet on the palate, Concannon's Petite Sirah has long been considered the benchmark for Petite Sirah produced in the U.S. Ask Ken Kogut if you want a personal opinion. This unique bottle has been signed by the grandson of this great visionary, Jim Concannon.
