Description

Roudon-Smith Winery is dedicated to the production of exceptional wines from selected vineyards of the Santa Cruz Mountains and other regions of California. Traditional winemaking methods result in elegant, long-lived wines, which are the perfect complement to any meal. At Roudon-Smith Winery, we specialize in the making of fine wines as well as the enjoyment of taking on new challenges. Every year, we search for the most remarkable fruit available. Then with a minimal intervention approach to winemaking, we aim to preserve this quality as the grapes evolve to wine. Though small, we are growing our production as we find additional exceptional grape sources that we can turn into high quality wines.

2004 Chardonnay, Santa Cruz Mountains Estate
The Annamaria Estate Vineyard sits on a South/East sloping hillside at a 900 ft elevation with total sun exposure throughout the summer days. The fruit was harvested at 22 degree's Brix towards the end of September in 2004. This is a complex Chardonnay and filled with beautiful citrus characteristics. This chardonnay will pair well with creamed dishes, salmon or a cheese platter.

2004 Pinot Noir, Santa Cruz Mountains
Our wine tasters most favorite wine! We have minimally handled the wine so its natural character will show through. This wine is rich with cherries and light overtones of spice; a classic Burgundian style Pinot Noir. 100% of the Pinot Noir fruit come from Veranda Vineyards. This fabulous vineyard has won awards for its premium fruit quality. Veranda Vineyards is located in the southern end of the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation where it sits on a sloped hillside of Mount Madonna at 600 feet elevation overlooking the Monterey Bay.

2004 Cabernet Franc, Monterey
New to Roudon-Smith Winery, this Cabernet Franc is showing great summer potential. Cabernet Franc is largely produced in France with over 35,000 acres; significantly planted in St. Emilion, the Loire Valley and the South of France. Here is the U.S. however; Cabernet Franc is planted in Long Island, New York, Washington State and California where only 2,000 acres are planted primarily in the Napa and Sonoma region. The grapes of this particular Cabernet Franc are grown in San Miguel of the Monterey appellation from Sundance Vineyards. This is a great summer time red wine with beautiful floral aromas followed by an abundance of lavender and rose.
