Mimun, who goes by his first name, "Clemente," has been gaining attention for his vibrant, expressionist works. Using his imagination as his guide, Clemente's paintings include a vast repertoire of figurative, abstract, landscape and floral images. "My art is an idea dictated by the emotion of the moment transferred onto the canvas using different colors as words to create the composition ... I add and subtract from the reality what I deem necessary in order to reach harmony between form and color. The color expresses my state of mind, and the result must be joyous," he said. Clemente has exhibited at many galleries, including Elysabeth Edward Fine Art in Laguna Beach, Calif.; Ken Elias Gallery in West Palm and Palm Beach, Fla.; Powell Street Gallery in San Francisco; Things Graphic in Washington, D.C.; and Chrysalis Gallery in South Hampton, N.Y. The son of a gallery owner, Clemente spent his childhood living in Tunisia and later in Paris.
