Simpson was the first NFL player to rush for 2000 yards in a single season, and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, in 1985.
His collegiate career included winning the Heisman Trophy at USC in 1968.
One of the more notorious professional athletes of our time, Simpson was aquitted of the 1995 murders of his ex-wife Nicole and friend Ronald Goldman. Simpson was later found liable in a civil case brought against him.
