Laura Young is a landscape painter and currently lives in Iowa City, Iowa where she is an Associate Adjunct Professor in the School of Art and Art History at the University of Iowa. She has won numerous fellowships and awards such as a Pollock Krasner Foundation Fellowship (1994), two Iowa Arts Council Grants (1997 and 2001), a New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowship (1985) and numerous residency fellowships at Yaddo and The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.

She has shown across the United States in museums, commercial galleries, juried and group shows, as well as internationally in Denmark and Nigeria. She has had one person shows at The Sioux City Art Center (Sioux City, Iowa), The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), Interior Space Design (New York, New York), and The Atlantic Gallery (New York, New York).

She is represented in corporate collections such as Allegacy Federal Credit Union (Winston-Salem, North Carolina), Pfizer Corporation Headquarters (New York, NY), National Westminster Bank Corporate Bank (Jersey City, NJ), United States Department of State, The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (Iowa City, Iowa) and in private collections across the country.
