Wallace J. Tomasini, former director of the School of Art & Art History, will preside at a dinner for 10 persons at Art Building West on an evening of your choice. After the dinner he will present a new illustrated lecture on the history of the School of Art & Art History entitled "The Iowa Idea: A History of Innovation in Art Instruction." The highest bidder will host the event, determine the date, and invite his/her friends. Starting bid $500. Proceeds will support student needs.


Wallace Tomasini received A.B., A.M., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Michigan and completed postdoctoral work at the New York University Institute of Fine Arts. He specializes in Italian Medieval and Renaissance. A Fulbright Scholar, Tomasini has received an American Philosophical Society grant, a fellowship from the Belgian-American Foundation, an HEW planning grant for Renaissance Conference and an Iowa Humanities Grant. His articles include "The Art Museum: A University Center for the Visual Arts in the Ninth Decade," in The Visual Arts in the Ninth Decade, and "The Art Administrator as Advocate: The Politics of Advocacy," in the National Council of Art Administrators Bulletin. He has published two books, The Art of Eve Drewelowe and Visigothic Tremisses in Early Medieval Spain, and compiled such catalogues as Drawing and the Human, 1400-1964, American 20th Century Painting, and Exhibition Celebrating 150 Years of Haviland China.
