A romantic who lays claim to the heart of Morrell's treasured wife, Candida, disturbs the Rev. Morrell's domestic comfort. The two men, locked in a battle of the wits, forget that Candida is more than a trophy to be fought over. In classic Shaw fashion, what seems to be drawing room comedy quickly becomes a deeper exploration of love.
