Description

This one-of-a-kind watercolor abstract was painted by Asega, a male chimpanzee at the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Uganda.

Asega was born in the forests of the Democratic Republic of Congo around 1998. He was confiscated by police from a Sudanese man in 1999, probably after his mother was killed for bushmeat, and he was turned over to the Uganda Wildlife Education Center.

As an enrichment activity at the sanctuary, Asega and other chimps love to paint pictures. Asega is an energetic and talented painter who creates his masterpieces with paintbrushes grasped in hand and foot.

You are bidding on an original 9 1/4" X 15 3/4" watercolor painting by the chimpanzee Asega. The painting is matted with a photo of the artist at work on the painting. The matted presentation measures 13 1/2" X 27".
