Description

The following piece was created by widely acclaimed sculptor Glen Eisner. As a friend of Jane, Glen donated a pair of Gorilla Bookends to JGI. The infant gorilla heads were created using the sculptor's traditional materials of plaster-cast and paint.

Glen wrote, "I hold a special place in my heart for apes. It certainly stems from seeing the original 'King Kong', 'Mighty Joe Young', and the 'Planet of the Apes' films. Subsequently I have worked in movie and TV special effects as a prosthetic make-up sculptor. I've always been interested in drawing, painting, and sculpting animals. My favorite subjects are apes, elephants, dinosaurs and woolly mammoths. I was heavily influenced by the art of Charles R. Knight. While growing up, I was excited when an article on Jane Goodall would appear in National Geographic magazine or she would be featured in a TV special. I had a secret crush on her; this brave beauty in the midst of the jungles, studying chimps.

You are bidding on a pair of Gorilla Bookends created by Emmy Award-winning film sculptor Glen Eisner.
