Rochester Museum and Science Center offers a Behind the Scenes tour for up to 10 people of the oldest evidence of humans in Rochester. View mastadon bones not presently on exhibit as well as other rare animals and fossils. A curator or paleontologist will take the high bidder and nine guests through the collection of objects not currently on display. These objects are housed in vaults not open to the general public and afes in the non public areas of the museum. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to see and learn about Ice Age animals that lived in Rochester! And while you are there you will visit their newest major exhibit show titled Expedition Earth Glaciers and Giants. Embark on an amazing journey through millions of years in this spectacular new natural science exhibit. Gaze at a full scale Albertsaurus skeleton in a setting that evokes the environment that this fierce predator inhabited 90 million years ago. Enter a glacial ice cave shimmering with light translucent reflections. Feel the temperature drop and hear the ice crack. Take a virtual tour and see how glaciers carved our landscape. Stand in awe at the feet of a full size replica mastadon and uncover replica bones at a mastadon dig site. This new exhibit is open during regular museum hours 9 AM to 5 PM Mondat through Saturday - noon to 5 PM on Sundays. Reservations for this tour are required.
