7-0. Garden Gone Wild - One of a Kind Quilt Artwork

Item Number: 108
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
Created by international artist Joyce Murrin, this gorgeous quilt is 52x54 inches and truly a work of art. How was it made? First designed and drawn full scale on paper. A second drawing was made encompassing the geometric flowers and background vegetation. Templates were made for all pieces, fabrics selected and the geometric flowers and background vegetation were machine pieced to form a foundation layer. Onto that layers and layers of curved and circle shapes were applied by hand to shape the flowers. When this top was complete, a backing fabric and middle layer of batting was added, basted together, quilted by hand, then bound. Embellished with butterflies. The process takes hundreds and hundreds of hours. The result is the shapes and colors of a garden gone wild.
Joyce's work is in museums and private collections, including two quilts in the Museum of the American Quilter's Society. She has exhibited in almost 200 juried and invitational shows.
