HAND-WOVEN RUG/WALL HANGING BY FIBER ARTIST CHAD ALICE HAGEN

Item Number: 243
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
This fabulous kaleidoscopic rug/wall hanging was hand made by UW grad and famous textile artist Chad Alice Hagen
It measures approximately 32"x50", plus 3" fringe on each end.
It features multi-colored fabric strips (in essence, a shag rug) mostly thin wale corduroy but also some wider wale corduroy and plain cotton fabric, as well.
The colors are gorgeous, ranging from chocolate brown, to deep red, to blue and green.
Chad's personal label, "Chad Hagen, Handwoven/Hand Felted" is present on the back corner of the piece. The original paper label (also to be provided to the winning bidder) indicates the rug is made of cotton & cotton blend corduroy weft with 100% cotton warp, dry clean or hand wash; lay flat to dry.
This piece was purchased at the Art Fair on the Square in 1984 or 1985. It was never used on the floor and was only used as a wall hanging for less than two years, on a wall that did not receive direct sunshine. While in use, it was lightly vacuumed on a periodic basis to remove dust. Since then, it has been rolled up, covered, and stored in a non-smoking, climate-controlled environment
The photo shows a dowel along the long edge of the hanging. The dowel is not included in the auction
