Description
Enjoy a private round of golf and lunch for three with Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley. The winning bidder has the choice between playing at Turner Hill, a nationally acclaimed championship golf course located in Ipswich, MA or playing at his/her own club.
Turner Hill, named by Travel + Leisure Golf as one of the best private courses in the U.S., is a dramatic 18-hole, 7,021 yard, par 72 championship golf course designed by Hurdzan/Fry. The course boasts spectacular vistas and elevation changes, wide fairways, and generous green complexes throughout the natural century-old landscape. Please visit www.turnerhill.com for more information.
Inducted into baseball's Hall of Fame in 2004, Eckersley pitched 24 seasons in the major leagues with five teams (Indians, Red Sox, Cubs, A's, Cardinals), including two different stints with the Red Sox (1978-1984, 1998). He spent the first 12 years of his career as a starting pitcher then switched to the bullpen to become one of the most dominant closers in the game. During a 5 year stretch beginning in 1988, Eckersley averaged 44 saves, a 1.88 ERA, more than a strikeout/inning and less than one walk/9 innings. In 1992, Eckersley became only the second relief pitcher to win both the A.L. MVP and Cy Young Award in the same season. He is fourth on the MLB all-time career save list with 390.
Today, Eckersley is a Red Sox baseball television analyst on NESN. He delivers analysis and commentary during select one hour pre-game and post-game shows.
