Description

A small (5.25" x 5.5") hand-made paper book with hand-drawn illustration backdrops to pasted photographs of Bandelier National Park in New Mexico, made by local artist and photographer Lorraine Klinger.  The ancestors of modern Pueblo people built thriving communities in the area called Bandelier about 600 years ago. Several thousand Ancestral Pueblo dwellings are found among the pink mesas and sheer-walled canyons at Bandelier and the best-known archeological sites there, in Frijoles Canyon near the Visitor Center, were inhabited from the 1100s into the mid-1500s.
This item was donated to the Cornerstones Community Partnerships, which assists communities in the preservation of historic structures, promotes the use of centuries-old building practices, and support the continuum of cultural values and heritage unique to the New Mexico region, ensuring that cultural traditions and heritage are passed on to future generations.
