Description

A two-night stay in the main house of the elegant and historic John Rutledge House Inn, including an informal afternoon tea served in the elegant second floor ballroom. Refreshments prepared daily by the Circa 1886 restaurant chef. Sherry and port available for your enjoyment. Turndown service and a Godiva chocolate on your pillow, and in the morning a newspaper delivered to your door, followed by a complimentary continental breakfast. This package includes a $100 certificate for dinner at the Circa 1886 restaurant.
Built in 1763 as the home of John Rutledge, one of the fifty-five signers of the U.S. Constitution, this hotel has been exquisitely restored to showcase the elaborately carved Italian marble fireplaces, the original plaster moldings, the inlaid floors and the graceful ironwork. George Washington called here in 1791, and an entry in his diary shows a breakfast with Mrs. Rutledge. This award-winning restaurant is nestled in the gardens behind the Wentworth Mansion in downtown Charleston, and offers a true Charleston fine dining experience in a unique and intimate atmosphere. While in the area remember to visit Drayton Hall, a truly different historic country house tour, and National Trust historic site (if you are a Trust member, your admission is free!)
