A special Presidential Tour for four of Andrew Jackson's Hermitage. This special tour offers a private "behind-the-glass" tour of the mansion led by the CEO or Chief Curator (only offered to major donors), a private tour of the grounds, garden, Jackson's tomb, carriage drive and museum gallery, as well as the log cabins. Also enjoy a horse drawn wagon tour, a meal (breakfast or lunch) in the Garden Gate Cafe, and a tote bag filled with Hermitage souvenirs including the latest Andrew Jackson biography by Sean Wilentz of Princeton and an autographed print of the Hermitage's prized Belted Galloway cattle, painted by local artist Phil Ponder.
One of the largest and most visited presidential homes in America, Andrew Jackson's Hermitage is a national model for authenticity, conservation, preservation, and innovative interpretive programs. Operated by a nonprofit organization since 1889, The Hermitage is a 1,120-acre National Historic Landmark featuring two restored Greek Revival-style mansions, a large formal garden, church, tomb, slave cabins as well as original outbuildings and landscape features. This award-winning site is also Nashville's first Smithsonian Institution Affiliate Museum. In recent years, new educational programs such as archaeology and the history of slavery have enhanced the experience of nearly 200,000 annual visitors, including 30,000 schoolchildren.
