Mission Mill Museum, Salem, OR - Yakima Camp Blanket, Vintage Pendleton

Item Number: 302
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
A queen-size Vintage Pendleton Camp Blanket. A vintage look that is at home in either rustic or contemporary settings. The Yakima recalls the original camp blankets relied upon by early sheepherders in the Northwest.
The history of Pendleton woolen Mills begins with Thomas Kay. Kay's eldest daughter, Fannie, learned the mill business and ably assisted her father in mill operation and management of the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill in Salem, Oregon (currently interpreted by Mission Mill Museum, a designated Save America's Treasures site). When she married retail merchant C. P. Bishop, a complementary combination of merchandising and manufacturing expertise emerged - a solid foundation for what was to become Pendleton Woolen Mills.
Mission Mill Museum interprets the history of the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill and preserves Mission houses, an Oregon Trail settler's house, a historic church and the structures, equipment and original water-powered turbine of the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill with related artifacts.
