Description

A private tour for two people of Edith Wharton's The Mount Estate and Gardens, as well as a lunch at The Terrace Cafe at The Mount.
Edith Wharton called it, "My first real home." The New York Times calls it, "Magnificent."  Edith Wharton designed and built The Mount in Lenox, MA, in 1902, based on the principles outlined in her influential book, The Decoration of Houses (1897), co-authored with architect Ogden Codman Jr. An icon of American architecture and landscape design, The Mount combines English, French and Italian elements tailored to its New England setting and has been extensively restored, with more than $9.5 million invested to bring the 42-room mansion and formal gardens back to life.
