Description
Join the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Director of Development, Preservation Alliance Board member and former staff member of the National Trust Betty Marmon for this personally guided tour providing a glimpse of the 225,000+ works of art in nearly 200 captivating galleries where visitors will find many surprises and changing exhibitions. This three-part tour includes a private tour through two of the Museum's most renowned buildings, lunch in the top rated Museum Café and complimentary admission to the Rodin Museum, located within a short walk of the Museum's recognizable front steps.
Overlooking one of the nation's most culturally vibrant cities, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, one of the largest museums in the United States, invites visitors from around the world to explore its renowned collections, acclaimed special exhibitions, and enriching programs. Additionally, as part of this tour, Ms. Marmon will take tour guests to the Museum's newest gem in their historic crown, the Ruth and Raymond G. Perelman Building. With twin cathedral-like entrances, this landmark Art Deco building was called "The Gateway to Fairmount Park" when it opened in 1927 as the headquarters for the Fidelity Life Insurance Company. Today, it is being dramatically recast in a new role as the gateway to the future for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the first phase of a master plan to dramatically expand and modernize the Museum by providing new galleries and study centers which will showcase some of the Museum's most comprehensive, colorful, and cutting-edge collections, as well as offer a variety of other welcoming spaces and wonderful new amenities.
