Description

A private tour of the landmark Lower East Side Tenement Museum building at 97 Orchard Street for a group of up to 15 people.  Also, one "Duo" level membership for one year.
Beginning in the 1840s, millions of immigrants poured into New York City, seeking a new and better life for themselves and their families. Once home to 7,000 of these intrepid pioneers between 1863 and 1935, 97 Orchard Street now provides a unique look into the lives of its former residents and the history of New York’s Lower East Side.  Touch, feel and experience the life of the immigrants at this immediate and vital museum.
The Lower East Side Tenement Museum's mission is to promote tolerance and historical perspective through the presentation and interpretation of the variety of immigrant and migrant experiences on Manhattan's Lower East Side, a gateway to America. The Tenement organized The International Coalition of Historic Site Museums of Conscience to establish a new role for historic sites around the world as forums for civic dialogue and action.
