Description

A personal four-hour tour for two (or maybe three) of representative Katrina flood zones and some of the National Trust's rebuilding demonstration sites.  The tour will be led by Jack Davis, a Trustee of the National Trust for Historic Preservation who lives part-time in New Orleans.  He was a reporter and editor for three New Orleans newspapers -- Figaro, The States-Item, and The Times-Picayune.  At The States-Item, he wrote a column called "The City," about urban design, preservation and architecture.

The tour includes lunch at L'il Dizzy's Cafe in the Treme section.  It is owned by Wayne Baquet, a member of the nationally known Baquet family of New Orleans, famous for a series of restaurants in the genre he calls 'Creole soul.'  President Bush had lunch there in March.
