Description

Six admission tickets to a guided tour of the winter White House of President Harry S. Truman, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and located in Key West, FL.
This 9000 sq. ft. 1890's Naval Commandant's House has witnessed significant moments in history.  It served as the home of Thomas Edison during WWI and, starting in 1946, was Harry Truman's choice for rest, relaxation, and working holidays to enact bills, discuss policies and prepare budgets and State of the Union addresses.  General Eisenhower held meetings leading up to the creation of the Department of Defense, and stayed here as President to recuperate from a heart attack. President Kennedy used the house for summit meetings and stayed here immediately following the Cuban Missile Crisis. President Carter used it for a family reunion and in 2001, Secretary of State Colin Powell led a week of international peace talks between the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan.   The house boasts 80-90% of its original furnishings as left by the Truman family, and is a wonderful testament to important times in history.
