Description

The image of Paddington Bear is the work of R. W. Alley, whose illustrations of the Paddington books and other children's books have brought him international recognition.

Children the world over love Paddington and how exciting it would be for a child to have his or her very own original drawing of a colorful Paddington, off on another adventure! This drawing comes with a little request from Paddington to "Please take care of him." We know that the high bidder on this original R. W. Alley drawing will do just that.

About the Illustrator: Since 1997, R. W. Alley has been the illustrator for the Paddington Bear books. The series is co-published in the US and England and available in foreign language editions throughout Europe. The books are all written by Paddington's creator, Michael Bond. Some are well known Paddington stories and many are brand-new adventures.

R. W. Alley writes "Many other artists have drawn, and I knew would draw, Paddington and it was not an easy thing to figure out how to make my interpretation have a life of its own. And, I had to audition my drawings for Mr. Bond, himself. Luckily, not unlike the Londoners Paddington meets, especially those along Portobello Road, Michael Bond is an extremely pleasant gentleman. He asked me to reconsider only several of my drawings. Since I had brought my paper and paints with me to London, this was not too difficult. In the end, Michael approved letting me try to picture Paddington. So far, so good. To date I have illustrated almost 20 of Mr. Bond's books about Paddington."
