Description

The Gilbert series of children's books are among the latest in a long list of books illustrated by Diane deGroat. Diane has been drawing since childhood and after illustrating many others' books she now writes and illustrates her own books, like Gilbert.

For her WGBH pillowcase Diane has Gilbert helping his friend Lola lift the big "TwoTag" onto a table. The charming characters are finely drawn, colorful and detailed. There is even a little poem promoting 'GBH added to the picture, which is signed in the lower right.

About the Illustrator: For 20 years Ms. deGroat has been an author and illustrator of more than 120 books for many different publishers and many different authors.

Ms. deGroat writes "I joined writers' groups and took writing classes. And I read. The more I read, the more I learned about writing. When Annie Pitts, Artichoke was published in 1992, I finally got the chance to illustrate my own chapter book. Roses Are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink was the first picture book that I wrote and illustrated. I'm working on another book in the Gilbert series now, and I plan to do many more.
