Description

There really is a Holly Hobbie! As a young mother and artist, Holly began to submit her artwork to the American Greetings Card Company. She soon became a household name, with a line of greeting cards, gift-wrap, linens, toys, china and, of course, dolls! In the late '90s, Holly entranced a whole new generation of fans with her Toot & Puddle picture books.

In this pillowcase illustration done exclusively for WGBH, Holly has drawn "Toot," the world-traveling pig and "Puddle," the porcine homebody, gleefully playing with the strings from the WGBH "TwoTag." The drawing measures about 8.5 inches square and is signed by Holly Hobbie.

This is an opportunity for our high bidder to own an original piece of art by a talented and famous artist whose name has become part of "Americana." And I bet you didn't even know she existed!

About the Illustrator: Born Denise Holly Ulinskas, Holly Hobbie has worked as an artist for more than 30 years and is the author of the highly acclaimedToot & Puddle picture books, as well as an illustrated memoir, The Art of Holly Hobbie. The mother of grown children, she lives with her husband in Conway, Mass.
