Description
Art is Jon Van Zyle's life at his home in Eagle River, Alaska. Twice he has completed the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Each year he creates an Iditarod poster for the race as the official Iditarod artist and in 2004 Jon was made a member of the Iditarod Hall of Fame.
For WGBH Jon has created an original piece of art that celebrates, in song, his sled dogs' pride in completing the 1049-mile race. Of course the sled is #2, as the WGBH "TwoTag" indicates.
This is a work by an accomplished and well-known artist and is signed in the left corner. Our guess is that the high bidder will be someone who has a Siberian Husky and/or is an Iditarod enthusiast.
About the Illustrator: A prolific artist, Jon Van Zyle produces numerous paintings each year for one-man exhibitions in the United States and Europe. Illustrating at least two children's books a year since 1993 for prestigious publishers has earned him a reputation with a younger audience as well as many awards for his children's art. His limited edition prints and posters sell out regularly with nearly 200 editions in the last 25 years.
