Description
Chosen to represent Italy at the Paris Exposition of 1994, the Timavo Table spans centuries of tradition and 7 feet of space to create a totally uncommon dining experience. Owing its poetic form to Giorgio Maria Borgato--designer of Italian villas, grand European gardens and fashion accessories alike--the Timavo satisfies those looking for something more than minimalism with its "modern baroque" styling. The design's balance of austerity and romance is most evident in the graceful solid oak cabriolet legs and broad undecorated planes. These details, as well as the table's perfect proportions and seamless joinery, convey the rigor and planning of numerous prototypes produced in Borgato's own wood working studio, and later, final production by skilled artisans. A solid oak apron lends the design a stately presence and ensures its ever-increasing value as an heirloom piece that will last for generations. Dramatic in scale and in character, the Timavo requires a large space with a convivial atmosphere to be fully enjoyed. Seats up to 10 people. Made in Italy.
