Description

In December, 1990, Gary Trudeau did a series of cartoons to raise awareness of the AIDS crisis in America.  The series followed one of his character's efforts to live with HIV and how the main characters in the strip dealt with their own feelings and eventual celebration after he died.

When this appeared in the strip, people who had never made a quilt panel before or who didn't even know about the AIDS Memorial Quilt started contacting the San Francisco workshop asking about "Andy's Panel".  With the artist's permission, the staff of the Names Project made an "official" panel for Andy and it traveled around the country as part of regular quilt displays.

However, Gary Trudeau wanted to do more.  A limited number of prints of "Andy's" panel were produced and auctioned away at a small fundraiser that included a private concert by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. It was one of Brian's first public appearances since coming out of his long seclusion.

One hundred and fifty posters were produced, but very few were signed by both Gary Trudeau and Brian Wilson.

This is a Live Event Item.
