The Elysium Skating Club meets at the south rink of the Cleveland Heights Recreation Pavilion from 10AM to 12:15 PM on Sundays, October through March.

Membership is open to any person of age 16 years or older.

Our principal activity is social skating to live organ music. We do not do "ice dancing," which involves intricate steps dictated by the type of dance (ie: Willow Waltz, Canasta, Tango, etc.) and backwards skating. We skate counter-clockwise around the rink, either singly, in pairs, or in trios, according to a fixed schedule. If you can skate, and keep a beat, you can skate like we do.

This type of skating, which seems to be unique to Cleveland, was established many decades ago at the old Elysium rink in what is now University Circle. That rink featured a live orchestra, and a strict dress code. Since then, an organ has replaced the orchestra, and the dress is casual. but the pleasure of skating to music with agreeable companions, is still the same.
