Allan Houston is without a doubt one of the greatest players in basketball history. After 12 seasons in the NBA, 9 in New York, he was the NBA's 11th best three-point shooter and one of the purest clutch long-range shooters ever to grace the game. Houston retired as the 4th leading scorer in franchise history during the regular season and the 8th leading scorer during playoffs. Only NBA legends Patrick Ewing, Walt Frazier and Willis Reed topped his record during their regular season careers. On Oct. 4, 1999, he was named a team captain, and held that title for six seasons. During his illustrious career, he was selected as a member of the 2000 and 2001 NBA All-Star teams and was a member of the gold medal-winning United States team at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney. A gentleman of immense character on and off the court, this sports super star has certainly earned hero status!
