An exciting example of what is to be shown is one of Boccara's tapestry:

MARC SAINT SAENS, weaved at AUBUSSON
by TABARD FRERES ET SOEURS CIRCA 1960

" LES COMEDIENS" - 7.1ft high x 9.3ft L

These tapestries belong to a private collection that was put together after the war by a major American industrialist. He bought during these pivotal years the different production of Le Corbusier, Picart le Doux, Klee, Picasso, Dom Robert, Mategot, Lurçat and Marc Saint Saens.
They have been kept in a safe since the moment they have been purchased and have never been exhibited.
They represent a very rare moment of the Aubusson period.
To launch back the tapestry industry after World War II and the luxury industry in general, the French government ordered new decors for its federal buildings and embassies all over the world enhancing the role of Aubusson for the quality and creativity of its production.
Famous artists such as Marc Saint Saens (1903 - 1979), nephew of Camille Saint Saens, along others such as Jean Lurçat, Marcel Gromaire, Picart le Doux, Le Corbusier, Dom Robert were part of a group called "Renaissance de la Tapisserie". In 1947, Marc Saint Saens, Jean Picart le Doux and Andre Lurçat created the Association for the master designer of tapestry. Tapestries designed by Marc Saint Saens are still exhibited at the Theatre du Capitole in Toulouse - France as well as numerous City Hall in France.
